VICTORY: Gender Identity and Expression To
Be Added To Tampa's Human Rights Ordinance
I'm thrilled to announce that Tampa's Human Rights
Ordinance will be amended to include Gender Identity and Expression. The City
Council It passes measure by a 5-1 vote, Charlie Miranda being the only no
vote.
I can't express how grateful I was to all who
turned out to speak in favor of the measure, we actually out numbered the
opposition. There were so many people lined-up to speak, the council had to
extend the allotted time to accommodate all people to waiting address
the council by an extra hour.
My sincere thanks goes out to all our community
members and allies who came together as a united front for equality. Your
calls, faxes, emails and those who were able to attend the meeting, made all the
difference in getting the measure passed.
So my friends, take out that bottle of champagne,
(or bottle of pop), crack it open and toast this very important victory for our
Transgender Brothers, Sisters and Uur
community.
